My wife's Tahoe is at the dealer for some warranty work. They just called her and said the drivers side headlight is out. Do we want it replaced for $123? I checked autozone $14.99 for the bulb. Seriously? Over $100 labor to replace a headlight? Arent they making enough money charging GM for all this recall work? Do they really want to sell me another car at some point in the future? Awful.

Our Local ford dealer charged my mom $125 to replace her fuel filter a few years ago .

I have no knowledge of the car in question, but some cars you have to drop the gas tank to change the fuel filter, i'm not saying it's a smart design, but it could justify that hefty labor charge...

Take it to Jiffy Lube. They will offer to do it for $75.

Sorry I should have put it was on a '99 2wd Explorer that has a filter easily replaced. Right on the driverside frame rail. I have done it a few times and it takes longer find the fuel disconnect tool in the tool box vs removing it and putting a new one on.

I'll do it myself. I replaced the daytime running light a few months ago. Same side too. It is a pain in the ass, need to go through the wheel well. But definitely not a $100 pain in the ass. Probably too me a half hour first time doing it. Id imagine if I were a tech there and did it regularly and knew what tools I needed ahead of time, plus access to a left to get the wheel out of the way, 10 min max. I guess when the right side goes out do them both at the same time.

The DRLs on these are a pain to change.

Ditto headlight bulbs on Yaris. Pull up a lawnchair and a cooler full of beer and sit back, watch, and laugh.
